WOW! Embossing Powders Blog

Gook luck and thanks for checking out my card. If you want a 'puffy' white finishes for any card, you absolutely can go past the WOW! Embossing Powders White Puff (WP01UH(O)).  It gives just the right amount of texture and soft, puffy finish for a multitude of different applications - snow, cream/marshmellow, sheep/llama/animal fur, clouds and more! It was perfect for my Cheery Christmas Llamas card using the Llamazing Llamas Stamps and Dies.

I started by making the background by using my brushes to blend both Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks on a white cardstock background piece. I then trimmed it with down with my Metric Stitched Rectangle Dies and splattered with water droplets. I used my Arizona stencil to create a silhouette background with Black Soot distress Oxide Ink. I trimmed a piece of Kraft Cardstock with the Slopey Joes Dies and dotted with copics and fine White Posca Pen.

I Stamped out my images from Llamazing Llamas and coloured as shown with Copic Markers (I hand-drew in the christmas lights on the cactus & dabbed some Kindy Glitz on them). I then used a Zig 2-way glue pen to cover the body of the Llamas to create a tacky surface for the embossing powder to stick to. After heating the powder with my heat gun to create a puffy effect, I went over it again in sections with the glue pen to get extra powder in areas to add more texture. It was quick and easy to do and I was super pleased with the effect it gives to the llama coats! The powder when dry is soft to the touch but does not flatten when pressed which should meant that it will fair well if posted (nice to know for your Christmas card posting).

I glued the scarves on the llamas and adhered the images to the front of the card as shown. I used the Merry Christmas Heffy Cut dies to cut working from cardstock from the Wildflowers 6x6 paper pad and also black cardstock. Once all elements were adhered to the front panel, I adhered this to a white cardbase.

I hope you enjoyed this cute little card and that it gives you few novel ideas for your Christmas cards this year!

I am blown away by how cool these embossing powders are! I need to get these new ones. I have a few containers of WOW and like them but these are next-level. Of course, HD designs are adorable!! I have these llamas. Your card is "llamazing"! Love its humor and the awesome effects of the WOW powder.
