Heffy Doodle and Chibitronics Collab

Hello Heffydoodlers! Welcome to our exciting collaboration with Chibitronics. If you've always wanted to try the light-up goodness of the Chibitronics sets, then follow the blog-hop as we have some amazing ideas and inspiration to inspire you! Chibitronics have a handy start up kit with a super helpful instruction booklet which is so easy to follow.
My card is probably a little more involved with 5 lights - however, there was well and truly enough supplies in the kit to make this card and more!

This is a photo heavy post so I can show you all the stages - full blog hop list at the end of my post.
To begin my card, I sponged Distress Oxide inks onto white cardstock. Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Abandoned Coral.

I took my Rays The Roof Stencil and applied White Pigment ink with a sponge through the stencil to give the effect of night-lights.

I used a Stitched Rectangle Die to cut a finished edge.
I used instructions from Joo Yeon Lee (her insta is here) to create a battery holder - this is not a necessity, just a handy variation  (then the recipient can change the battery if it runs out - so clever!). I cut a strip of paper with measurements as shown by Joo Yeon Lee (and as below).

Fold the paper 'mountain/valley' at marked distances as per below.

Use a punch to punch holes simiar size to the battery in each segment.
Fold and adhere the holder and the battery should sit in place as shown.

I traced around the Cityscape stencil, trimmed it with scissors and used a punch to punch 'window' holes in some of the buildings as shown below. I placed this over my skylight piece and traced where the windows would be with pencil, cutting holes with my scalpel so the LED lights could shine through.

I then marked the window holes and drew a 'plan' on the black base-piece where my battery housing would sit.I used the Pull tab add on die from Lawn Fawn to create my slider element in my skylight piece, and marked this on the 'plan' also.

I folded the pull tab piece as per normal and placed double thickness 3D foam as shown. I placed a strip of copper tape on the back of the pull tab at the base.
I attched the copper tape to the black base piece as shown below - again I was inspired by @jooyeon.lee.paper.lover and some of her amazing cards!  Note the gap in the tape at the top of the slider - the pull tap will have copper tape on its base, so when it is pulled upwards it connects the copper tape at the 'gap' and completes the circuit.
2 layers of 3D foam is required to allow enough room for the battery and LED lights. Once everything was working well, I attached the front panel and cityscape buildings (I used vellum behind the windows to disperse the light from the LED's). I coloured the supergirl from the Superdudes set, stamped the sentiment on black card and die cut the Super die in silver glitter paper.

A few extra silver stars and it was ready to go!! Pulling the tap upwards activates the LED lights!
Hope you enjoyed the card and that you find lots of inspiration on the hop!

I imagine everyone’s awake in those buildings and wondering who’s flying in the air.
