Countdown to Confetti Day 1

 Hello Fetti Fans! Time for another Countdown To Confetti where we show you cards we have made with the upcoming new release (to be available on the 8th of this month). Today is Day 1 and we have the wonderful Tropical Leaves and Lovely Day Sentiments to show you.

I have two cards for you today - both are very similar in design but show how the masking technique can be done - one with simple masking and one with more complex masking.

The first card, uses just the Monstera leaf from the wonderful Tropical Leaves set. To make the masks, I stamped the leaf on some full stamp-it notes and fussy cut with scissors (making sure to cut directly on the stamped line, not on the outer edge of it or with a border like you would if fussy cutting a stamped image that you were going to color). This image is a beautiful size and not difficult to fussy cut making it a good choice for an easy masking project. 

 

I wanted to stamp my leaves in a green ink and color them with copics, however, my ink color is not copic friendly so this is my workaround...... I stamp in distress Oxide inks and clear emboss over the image so that the Copics don't cause the ink to run. To do this I used my mini misti for the stamping - I stamped the leaf on a piece of white cardstock that I had cut to size to fit a cardbase. To stamp, I used my lucky clover Distress Oxide Ink. When dry I quickly sweep over it with my anti-static pad. As I wanted to emboss the image, I then needed to keep the stamp and cardstock in my misti in the same position, clean the stamp it with a cloth and restamp the image with versamark ink - Then sprinkle clear embossing powder over the image and heat set it.

Once I had done this, I could cover this image with a mask and continue in the same way to stamp the other leaves. Once all the stamping and embossing was done, I colored the leaves with a range of green Copic markers, being sure to have some darker areas and lighter areas to emulate the Monstera colors. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from the Lovely Day Sentiments in black ink above the leaves. 

The second card is really just a more complex version of the first. I decided to use all of the leaves, but to do this you will need to create masks for all of the the leaves that you want to do (sometimes 2 of each). They can be quite tricky to fussy cut, so this is a more time consuming variation but still lots of fun!

I finished both cards by adhering them to a green cardbase and adding white Posca Pen details for the 'shine' effect on the leaves.
